The core of a laminate floor plank is made of high density fibre (HDF) which is derived either from industrial wood waste that would otherwise have been dumped in a landfill or burned, or ecologically-sustainable pine trees. The wear resistance of laminate flooring is an important specification when you are choosing a laminate floor. The wear resistance is classified into 5 levels, from AC1 to AC5. AC1 is for residential use in low traffic areas like bedrooms, AC2 for use in medium traffic domestic areas and AC3 for high traffic residential use, for example in kitchens and hallways, or low traffic commercial use. The highest ratings, AC4 and AC5, are for medium and high traffic commercial use respectively.
